Hands On Projects
How we get involved in our community by lending a helping hand
|
Soroptimist International of Oceanside-Carlsbad members like to lend a helping hand to local non-profits that serve women and girls. We paint rooms, serve meals, wrap holiday gifts, stock backpacks, give career advice, and one year, we even helped to build housing!
Here are a few of the ways we help: Dream It, Be It: Program that helps high school girls with career advice. Brother Benno's: Every time there are five Wednesdays in a month, we serve breakfast on that fifth Wednesday to those in need of a daily hot meal. Women's Resource Center: We have painted and decorated rooms at this shelter for women threatened by domestic abuse and their children. We also wrap gifts for the center's annual gift exchange between parents and their children. North County Lifeline: We put together backpacks filled with clothing and toiletries for human trafficking victims. Surfside Academy: We partner with Rotary International to provide Christmas gifts and a party for high school girls and boys who are parents and are finishing their high school diplomas. |
